Kirk Cameron Links Darwin To Hitler!

~ The smearing of Darwin by petty people continues after 150 yrs.

2009 is a momentous year for Charles Darwin. On February 12th, 2009, he turned 200 years old! And on November 24th, 2009, his landmark book, On the Origin of Species, will turn 150 years old. We are of the opinion that Charles Darwin was perhaps one of the greatest and most influential thinkers in a 1,000 years.

However, Growing Pains TV star and evangelical Christian, Kirk Cameron, is determined to rain on Darwin’s parade. With the help of fellow idiot and evangelical preacher, Ray Comfort, Cameron has accused Darwin of being a racist and a misogynist, giving inspiration to Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust. Cameron's Creationist backers have printed 50,000 copies of an edited version of On the Origin of Species which contains a 50-page preface expounding the fallacies of Evolution and Darwin's alleged racist and women-hating tendencies. They will be distributed to students on college campuses all over the United States.

~ Cameron links Darwin to the Nazis – calls him a woman-hater.

But we think it is unfair and unethical to judge Darwin by the standards of our current generation. For him to talk and behave like us during the 19th century would have seemed bizarre and alien to people back then. Clearly, Kirk Cameron and his Creationist supporters are trying to cleverly manipulate people's sensitivities in regard to hot-button issues such as racism and sexism to their advantage.

Traditionally, Creationists hold the view that Darwin was wrong due to the fact that there are no fossil records of species-to-species transitional creatures. They are referred to as the "Missing Links." However, Evolution – more correctly, Natural Selection – can be proven without fossil records. Fossils are rare. And most fossils that survive are mainly of established species which had been around for a long time. The fossils of transitional species during times of natural changes would be harder to find.

However, one of the greatest blows to Creationist theory may have been uncovered recently. The fossils of "Ardi," a man-like creature that is the oldest relative of humans (about four million years old), was uncovered and is considered to be the most important scientific discovery in a decade. And to scientists' surprise, she's more like a human being than an ape. In other words, as proposed by Darwin, humans did not evolve from apes.

~ Our earliest ancestor was not ape-like.

Rather, humans and apes BOTH evolved from an ancient common ancestor (perhaps a creature like Ardi), and each went their separate ways through the evolutionary process. In other words, there may not necessarily be a creature that was "in between" apes and humans, thus explaining the absence of transitional species fossils. In our opinion, Ardi destroys the Missing Link argument that Creationism solely relies on. For more information on Ardi, click here.

  1. The Kirk Camerons of the world are free to believe in fairies, hobgoblins, and Jesus Christ. I don't care what he or people of his ilk believe; I DO care if they try to teach it as alernative science in schools. Alternative science is an oxymoron. Science is a process, not a belief. Beliefs are the domain of the churches, politicians, and zealots. They have their churches, synogogues, mosques, private schools to indoctrinate.

All sciences and religions are theories. People study music theory, philosophy, geology, sociology, and scientology. Theories of the hard sciences - math, physics, astonomy, chemistry, geology, etc. - are subject to peer review, but more importantly they are CONSTANTLY being retested and refined. Sir Isaac Newton's theory of gravity was not disproven by Einstein. The error of Newton's ideas was essentially not obervable on earth. Einstein's theories forced a refinement of Newton's laws of gravity, action/reaction to accommodate the discrepancies observed and measured by astronomers. So too the theory of evolution continues to refine, but they are refined based on repeatable and measurable observations.

Whatever Charles Darwin might have been or what he did to other people is utterly irrelevant. His observations and the theories had a profound impact on humanity's understanding of itself and the ongoing evolution of all life.

Creationists have nothing demonstrable, measurable, and repeatable to support their beliefs except more beliefs. (Please spare me the Biblical quotes... that's like quoting a comic book to prove Superman.) They can argue till the sun burns out that Evolution is only a theory, and they would be right. That doesn't make their THEORY equal, nor does ONE study elevate creationism to an alternative "science".

Ardi is but one of countless facts in geology, paleontology, archeology, astonomy, physics, and chemistry that disputes omniscient design (it most certainly is not intelligent).

  2. Kirk Cameron is saying that God and Evolution cannot co-exist. This is simply the wrong assumption. There is no reason why Christians can’t accept scientific truths and still be devout. Cameron’s aggressive attitude toward scholarly research is both dangerous and disturbing.

  3. Kirk Cameron is an idiot. But he looks good for 39!

  4. I was struck by Kirk Cameron’s populist claim that 60% of the academic’s at America’s leading universities are either agnostics or confirmed atheists. How shocking! This unelected and subversive elite is accused of corrupting American youth, who should be allowed to make up their own minds.

Actually, I doubt very much that evolution is discussed very much these days at most American universities. Unless your field of study is the natural sciences. In which case, acceptance of the theory is an absolute requirement if you want to do any serious work in the field.

It would be like wanting to study astronomy without accepting the theory of gravity. That is, virtually impossible.

  5. Kirk Cameron confuses evolution with the origins of the universe. Perhaps intentionally so, perhaps not.

Yes, Newton, Faraday, Einstein, Pasteur and even Darwin himself all believed that God created the universe some billions of years ago. That is not the same as believing that God created rabbits, fish, birds and a million other plant and animal species during or shortly after the big bang.

Rabbits and everything else came billions of years later and were the result of evolution or natural selection. Not some wave of God's magic wand.

So let's not confuse evolution with natural selection.
